On Jan. 25, the song "Home in Bonita" written by Ella Aldridge was performed at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center, and was named the Official Song of Bonita. The song was originally written by Ella for the 2024 BonitaFest Melodrama (which is produced each year by Dr. Max Branscomb--an advisor/collaborator of Ella's since she was 9 years old). In attendance at Saturday's performance were Mayor John McCann, former Supervisor Greg Cox, former conductor of the San Diego Symphony Jahja Ling, Jeff Bettger, Miss Bonita Alicia Montano, Miss Chula Vista Isabel Caballero, Andrea Elam, and many more. Bonita artist Audi Lawson documents the region from the 1950’s through the 1990’s including mediums such as photography, sculpture, collage and drawing. Series: Audi’s Fantasy Landscapes In the 1990s, in a melding of elements of sculpture and photographs, Audi’s landscape fantasies evolved from collages of pieces of torn paper that were subsequently photographed and incised. Since these images have little perspective, the foreground and background can seem to switch places. In the complete darkness of the darkroom, Audi later added her own hands and other objects to the color backgrounds
